The Hostel is located on Benbecula; in the centre of the Uists. It's an ideal location for all, within easy reach for walks, wildlife, beaches, and hill climbing. It's easily accessible; on the main bus route through the islands and just over 1 mile from Balivanich the main village in the Southern Isles, which is home to the airport, shops, post office, bank, restaurant and pub. We are across the road from one of the many beautiful beaches on the islands - Culla Bay; a sand and shingle beach, which in the right conditions is perfect for walks, picnics, and for those who are brave enough to venture into the cool waters, surfing & swimming.
The MacPhee Family
The hostel is owned and run by the MacPhee family, Donald, Catherine and their children Jennifer, Alison and Alasdair.
Nunton House itself is split into four seperate dwellings, one of which was Donald's father's family home. The MacPhee's have been resident in Nunton since the 1920's with further connections to Liniclate and the east side of Benbecula.
The hostel is a real family business with each member of the family, although not all living on Benbecula, having a part to play in running the hostel.
